Interview: Dir. Duane Adler on the making of HEARTBEATS
29 Jun, 2017
HEARTBEATS (2017), an exciting Bollywood-hip hop dance and music-filled coming of age love story from legendary STEP UP (2006-2010) series and SAVE THE LAST DANCE (2001) creator Duane Adler was filmed entirely in India. Each scene will get your adrenaline pumping and inspire you to either get up and dance or fly to India for a wild adventure. Like Adler’s past films, we have stellar acting, music and choreography. The bumpin’ soundtrack was produced by Roc Nation’s Trakmatik and its lead actress, Krystal Ellsworth [LA LA LAND (2016) and IRON MAN 2 (2010)], HEARTBEATS’ ‘Kelli’, previously toured as a dancer with singer Nick Jonas.
Following the HEARTBEATS private movie screening at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) in Hollywood, California, we caught up with the very talented director/writer Duane Adler. Watch our exclusive interview with the HEARTBEATS director to see what he had to say about the making of the film, Bollywood movies and why he loves incorporating dance and music in his films.
The movie also stars TWILIGHT SERIES (2008-2010) actor Justin Chon [GOOK (2017), SEOUL SEARCHING (2015)], Daphne Zuniga [MELROSE PLACE (1992-1996), THE FLY II (1989)], Paul McGillion [STARGATE: ATLANTIS (2004-2009), STAR TREK (2009)], Amitash Pradhan [Bruce Lee-The Fighter (2015), Velaiilla Pattadhari (2014)], Vidya Malvade [Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013), Chak de! India (2007)] and is produced by Andrea Chung [SEOUL SEARCHING (2015), THE DAMNED (2013), PASSION PLAY (2010)]. HEARTBEATS opens in South African theaters on June 30th.
