Cinequest: Director Patrick Mattes on DISAFFECTED YOUTH

Cinequest: Director Patrick Mattes on DISAFFECTED YOUTH

28 Mar, 2017

During the 2017 Cinequest Film & VR Festival, which took place in downtown San Jose, CA and Redwood City, CA, we had the opportunity to view a group of short films presented by college filmmakers. One of our favorites of the Short Program 9A – College Short Program was DISAFFECTED YOUTH directed/co-written by San Jose State University alumnus Patrick Mattes and produced/co-written by Jacob Ohlhausen.

We caught up with Mattes prior to the world premiere of his punk-inspired, 18-minute short film at Cinequest. The short is a coming of age story about a teenage boy that idolizes his older brother. However, when things go awry Elvis has second thoughts about looking up to his older sibling.
