In its fifth year, Art Market San Francisco took place at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion from April 29 – May 3, 2015. The fair celebrated an outstanding turnout with over 7,000 art enthusiasts in attendance. With great sales and atmosphere, the event kicked off on Wednesday evening, April 29th, with a Preview Benefit for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco followed by record breaking attendance at Thursday’s Art Party. With seventy top modern and contemporary art gallerists from around the world, Dig in Magazine toured the Pavilion with our camera on hand.

Highlights of the festival included Mill Valley, California’s Zener Schon Contemporary Art, a new gallery which has made a large impact on the art industry with its distinctive collection of high caliber artists.  Partners Julie Zener and Tara Schon combine 20 years of experience in the fine art industry and recently presented an exhibition at BottleRock Napa Valley. The ZSCA booth at Art Market showcased phenomenal pieces by Andy Warhol, Ted Lawson, Eric Zener, Robert Rauschenberg, Carly Ivan Garcia, Ian Ross, Peter Gronquist, Ashleigh Sumner and Benito Rangel De Maria.

Dig in also stopped by San Francisco’s Hashimoto Contemporary booth to see the work of internationally acclaimed artist Brett Amory, well-known for his painting series entitled “Waiting”–work he began in 2001. The “Waiting” series depicts the urban individual’s yearning for presence and the seeming impossibility of attaining it. Hashimoto also featured San Francisco-based photorealistic landscape painter Jessica Hess who has earned numerous accolades for her depictions of the urban environment via oil paintings on canvas and gouache on paper. Lastly, the artwork of Oakland, CA-based street artist GATS, an international graffiti legend and Harrisburg, PA artist Crystal Wagner, whose art combines 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms, alternative use of materials, and hybrid approaches to printmaking also caught our eye.
